Ok so here goes........my first attempt at blogging.  There are so many things happening and changing as my business develops.  I thought it would be nice to blog about updates with my products as well as answer questions you might have about my products or the ingredients.

Sunsafe....

Picture
Yes.  It is time to be sun safe.  Well it is always time, but now that the hot summer sun is upon us it is soooo important to wear sunscreen.  I have been making chemical free mineral sunscreen since I started my business. Remember zinc oxide provides full protection and is safe because does not penetrate into the body like other  sunscreens that are loaded with harmful chemicals.. I have had some successes and failures with my sunscreen. Yesterday, I attempted a new recipe to test and see how it performs. My goals were to avoid a ghost-like appearance since the main ingredient is zinc oxide; avoid a greasy or sticky feeling, and most importantly to be effective!  A sunscreen needs 15% zinc oxide to make it about a 30spf.  The main question I get over and over is (what is the spf of your sunscreen?). No matter what the spf is, sunscreen needs to be reapplied every 80 to 90 minutes if you are out in the sun for extended periods of time.  I apply every hour if I am skiing or at the beach.  People don't realize how much sun reflects off  water, snow, and sand. Today I am wearing my new recipe and I have to say it has met my three goals.  It went on smooth and soaked right into my skin.  I am not ghostlike, greasy or sticky.  After doing yard work in full sun at 12 noon for one hour with arms exposed and no hat my face and arms show no signs of a sunburn.  Yes, I think this is my new and improved  recipe!  I sell this sunscreen for 12.00 for 8oz, 8.00 for 4oz, and 5.00 for a 2oz.  Try some and you can reply here to tell me how it worked out for you.
