Yes folks, the summer is long and very hot in Arizona. I Have been traveling as much as possible to get out of these 100+ degree days. I spent some time in the cool mountains of Colorado, the sandy beaches of San Diego, and the awesome city of Minneapolis. I am blessed to have traveled and visited family and friends in these places. When at home and hibernating in my air conditioned house, I spend time working on my products and my new endeavor... making soap! This is the latest batch. It is sage and lemongrass and only 6.00 a bar! Isn't it pretty! Check out my website to see what else is going on in my kitchen. Remember jojo's organics for some nice gift giving ideas!
Yes, summertime. I happen to live in the desert (and I love the desert) but.... the summer can be quite challenging. I try and get away for a bit of coolness. I like to camp in the mountains, go to the beach, and travel anywhere I think I can get a break from the heat of the desert. I also make sure I have plenty of sunscreen, moisturizing lotion, and bug repellent. Although I love the outdoors, I also like to make sure I am protecting my largest organ on my body.....MY SKIN! The mosquitos have been giving us desert dwellers quite a challenge this summer after our rainy winter. I make a wonderful bug repellent with essential oils (no harmful chemicals) for your backyard use and any outdoor excursions you may be taking this summer. I also make a mineral based sunscreen to protect you from harmful UVA/UVB rays. It also helps to wear long sleeves and a hat too! After enjoying all of your outdoors activities its nice to wash off all that dust, dirt, salt, or chlorine and slather on some nice chemical free lotion scented with the essential oil of your choice. Yes, it's summer....but don't let the harsh elements of your environment keep you from enjoying all your favorite summertime activities. Try some jojo's skin care. You can purchase my products at Journeys Naturalpathic Medicine in Chandler, The Botanica at The Farm at South Mountain, or through my online store...jojosorganicskincare.com. Have a fun, safe summer!
Yes folks we now have mosquitos in Arizona. People are wondering why? There are lots of theories out there, but that is not going to make the little critters go away. I have a solution for those pesky bugs. Buy some jo jo's bug repellent. It is made with 7 essential oils and will keep away all kinds of biting insects, including those nasty black flies. It also helps to burn some citronella as well. Order some today so you can enjoy summer nights again on your patio.
Wow! June 1st. We had a glorious spring here in the desert. We were blessed with a few extra weeks of nice cool weather. Now it's done. The thermometer is on the rise and we desert rats know its going to stay there until pretty much October. Time to take extra care of the largest organ on your body....your skin. Number one.....drink water. Hydrate your skin from the inside. Number 2. Apply body butter and/or lotion after bathing while your skin in still damp. Number 3. Use safe products with no harmful chemicals, just nourishing oils, aloe, and essential oils. Number 4. Try some of my organic lotion and/or body butter. It's safe, reasonably priced, and made with all natural and organic ingredients. Order in the next 10 days and receive a 10% discount. Use coupon code jojo10. And don't forget to apply sunscreen every 60 min. if you are out in the sun, wear protective clothing, and your favorite hat! Enjoy a skin safe summer!
Today I spent the day updating my online store. I'm not quite done, but done for today! Anyway, I am really excited to debut my essential oil organic soap. I have a few scents to choose from. I think you should try some. Homemade soap is so much nicer than store bought, and there is no fragrance added. I only use essential oils which give you added benefits for your skin as well as a little aromatherapy!
Yes. It is time to be sun safe. Well it is always time, but now that the hot summer sun is upon us it is soooo important to wear sunscreen. I have been making chemical free mineral sunscreen since I started my business. Remember zinc oxide provides full protection and is safe because does not penetrate into the body like other sunscreens that are loaded with harmful chemicals.. I have had some successes and failures with my sunscreen. Yesterday, I attempted a new recipe to test and see how it performs. My goals were to avoid a ghost-like appearance since the main ingredient is zinc oxide; avoid a greasy or sticky feeling, and most importantly to be effective! A sunscreen needs 15% zinc oxide to make it about a 30spf. The main question I get over and over is (what is the spf of your sunscreen?). No matter what the spf is, sunscreen needs to be reapplied every 80 to 90 minutes if you are out in the sun for extended periods of time. I apply every hour if I am skiing or at the beach. People don't realize how much sun reflects off water, snow, and sand. Today I am wearing my new recipe and I have to say it has met my three goals. It went on smooth and soaked right into my skin. I am not ghostlike, greasy or sticky. After doing yard work in full sun at 12 noon for one hour with arms exposed and no hat my face and arms show no signs of a sunburn. Yes, I think this is my new and improved recipe! I sell this sunscreen for 12.00 for 8oz, 8.00 for 4oz, and 5.00 for a 2oz. Try some and you can reply here to tell me how it worked out for you.
